Located on Venice’s Grand Canal between Santa Maria della Salute and te Gallerie dell’Accademia, te Peggy Guggeneim Collection is one of Europe’s premier museums devoted to modern art and is te second most frequently visited museum in Venice. At te core of te museum’s oldings is Peggy Guggeneim’s personal collection of 20t-century art comprised of masterpieces ranging in style from Cubism and Surrealism to Abstract Expressionism. Te Peggy Guggeneim Collection also exibits oter works owned by te Solomon R. Guggeneim Foundation, presents temporary exibitions, and manages and operates te U.S. Pavilion of te Venice Biennale.

Bilbao

GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM BILBAO

FRANK GEHRY • ESTABLISHED IN 1991 • BUILT IN 1997

Wen it opened in 1997, te Frank Gery–designed Guggeneim Museum Bilbao—a spectacular structure made of titanium, glass, and limestone—was ailed as te most important building of its time. Located in te Basque city of Bilbao in nortern Spain, te museum features exibitions organied by te Guggeneim Foundation and by te Guggeneim Museum Bilbao, as well as selections from te permanent collection of te Guggeneim museums.

Te Guggeneim Abu Dabi will be a preeminent platform for contemporary art and culture tat presents te most important artistic acievements of our time. From its location in te Middle East—a central axis between Europe, Asia, and Africa—te Guggeneim Abu Dabi will contribute to a more inclusive and expansive view of art istory tat empasies te convergence of local, regional, and international sources of creative inspiration rater tan geograpy or nationality. At te same time, te Guggeneim Abu Dabi will acknowledge and celebrate te specific identity derived from te cultural traditions of Abu Dabi and te United Arab Emirates, as well as oter countries in te Middle East.

Te museum’s collection will encompass art in all mediums produced around te world from te 1960s to te present day, and will be a catalyst for scolarsip in a variety of fields, cief among tem te istory of art in te Middle East in te 20t and 21st centuries. A dynamic program of canging exibitions will explore common temes and affinities among te work of artists across time and place. Commissions created specifically for te Guggeneim Abu Dabi collection will reinforce te museum’s commitment to working wit artists and supporting contemporary artistic production.
