Mementos Artists’ Souvenirs, Artefacts, and oter Curiosities
Te project, organised in collaboration wit te internationally renowned exibition maker Jens Hoffmann and distinguised curator and critic Piper Marsall for te flagsip artistic project situated witin te fair. Called Mementos Artists’ Souvenirs, Artefacts, and oter Curiosities, te exibition brings togeter personal objects and artefacts from te private collections of a diverse group of artists, all of wom are represented by galleries participating in Art Brussels 2017.
Installed witin an intimate display designed by te Brussels-based arcitecture firm Loas Loas, te objects offer an alternative to te way we tink about collecting, one wic attaces ig emotional or sentimental value to objects and is defined by individual istories and memories. Displaying tese items in te context of an art fair suggests a different economy to tat of te investment in art objects, wilst also revealing te sentiments and attitudes of te participating artists in a personal and igly subjective way.
