展览精选28组海外华人艺术家作品，围绕“身份认同”“文化杂糅”“第三空间”三大主题，探讨移民艺术家在全球化背景下的生存处境与文化回应。

Featuring 28 groups of works by overseas Chinese artists, the exhibition explores their living conditions and cultural responses in a globalized context through three themes: identity, cultural hybridity, and the third space.

在传统的艺术史叙事中，移民艺术家的跨国创作实践往往游离于主流视野之外。然而，近年来，移民艺术家在构建包容、多元的全球化后殖民社会中的重要性日益受到关注。作为移民艺术家群体的重要组成部分，海外华人艺术家在文化输出与跨文化交流方面均作出了卓越贡献。

Immigrant artists have long been on the margins of mainstream art history, yet their contributions are essential in shaping a diverse, postcolonial global society. Among them, Overseas Chinese artists play a crucial role in cultural exchange and artistic dialogue.

自1997年建馆以来，何香凝美术馆持续关注海外华人艺术，已成功举办多届富有特色的海外华人艺术展，汇聚来自20余个国家的110余位艺术家作品，并逐步建立起一批具有学术价值的馆藏，成为本馆的学术定位之一。本馆策划的“海外华人艺术家展览”系列，已发展为国内乃至国际范围内唯一系统研究华人艺术的制度化展览项目。

Since its founding in 1997, He Xiangning Art Museum has been dedicated to the study and exhibition of Overseas Chinese art, organizing numerous landmark exhibitions featuring over 110 artists from 20+ countries. ItsOverseas Chinese Artists Exhibitionseries remains the only systematic project of its kind, advancing global research in this field.

本次回顾展精选馆藏中28组华人艺术家作品，回顾美术馆自创立以来在海外华人艺术研究与展示方面的实践。通过“身份认同”、“文化杂糅”、“第三空间”三个主题展开讨论，重新探究海外华人艺术家的生存处境，以及他们对文化根源、身份认同等议题的回应。同时，展览还呈现相关历史文献，梳理历届展览的策展脉络与学术议题。在回顾系列展览演进历程的同时，展览亦试图比较不同历史时期、地域背景与主题框架下，海外华人艺术家多元化的艺术实践及其文化意义。
This retrospective presents 28 groups of works from the museum’s collection, structured around three themes—Identity and Identification, Cultural Hybridity, and The Third Space. Through these themes, it reexamines the living conditions of Overseas Chinese artists and their responses to issues such as cultural roots and identity. Additionally, the exhibition presents historical documents, tracing the curatorial frameworks and academic discourses of previous exhibitions. While reviewing the exhibition series, it also seeks to compare the diverse artistic practices of Overseas Chinese artists across different historical periods, regional contexts, and thematic frameworks, while recognizing their significant contributions.

The exhibition Through Her/His Vision: A Retrospective of Overseas Chinese Art seeks to present the richness and diversity of Chinese art in a globalized context through a multifaceted and multi-perspective approach. The Her and His in the title refer to female and male overseas Chinese artists respectively. Featuring 28 groups of works from the museum’s collection, this section examines key themes in immigrant art—identity, cultural hybridity, and the unique third spaces artists that create within multicultural environments.

本版块作品展示了艺术家对自身多重身份的探索与思考。这些身份不单单指作为华人，还可以是其作为艺术家，抑或家庭或亲密关系中一员。艺术家通过使用肖像、符号、声音等媒介来创造情感体验，具象个人或群体与周围事物或环境的关系。其中不乏身份认同中的对立和冲突，折射出其中的多样性和复杂性。This theme explores the artists’ multifaceted identities—beyond being Overseas Chinese, they are also artists, family members, and partners. Through portraiture, symbols, and sound, these works evoke emotional experiences that illustrate the coexistence, tensions, and conflicts within identity, revealing the complexity of self-identification.

本版块的作品主要呈现两种或多种不同文化元素在相遇、碰撞、融合过程中所留下的痕迹。这包括文化冲突、文化挪用和文化交流等多种文化杂糅形式，揭露了文化实力对比、平衡以及文化话语权等微妙关系，也体现出跨文化互动在促进文化多样性发展中的重要性。

The works in this theme examine the marks created by cultural encounters, including conflict, appropriation, and exchange, exposing the subtle dynamics of cultural power, balance, and discourse. These works also highlight the role of cross-cultural interactions in fostering cultural diversity and mutual understanding.

In sociology, the third space refers to a public or semi-public space that is neither the home (first space) nor the workplace (second space). Borrowing this concept, the artworks in this theme explore how artists create new perspectives and modes of expression while navigating multiple cultures and geographies. Ranging from depictions of daily life to cosmic explosions, they offer moments of visual and intellectual revelation.

“TA”在此象征着以展览、文献、图像、视频等多种媒介所构建的切入视角。本单元通过以美术馆为代表的研究机构，以更系统、客观的方式去整理和理解华人艺术。展览文献包括展览海报、展览画册、展览衍生品等，其中涵盖的海外华人口述史作为华人艺术研究重要的一部分，真实地还原了海外华人艺术家的生存及创作面貌。此外，借助科技手段，在虚拟空间中重建3D展览现场，最大程度上保留了展览策展过程中的各种考量，并用创新形式记录展览，使其成为研究文献的重要组成部分。同时，录音资料让观众可以直接聆听艺术家的声音，以及观众投稿的华人小故事。通过文字、图像、空间、声音多维手段，本单元力求更生动地呈现一个展览的策划过程及学术价值。

In this section,It represents the perspectives constructed through various media, including exhibitions, archival documents, images, and videos. Centering on the museum’s research efforts, this section presents posters, catalogs, and oral histories that offer authentic insights into Overseas Chinese artists’ lives. 3D virtual exhibitions preserve curatorial intent, while audio recordings share artists’ voices and audience-submitted stories. By integrating text, images, space, and sound, this section provides a dynamic, multidimensional view of the exhibition’ s curatorial and academic significance.
