展览以“丘嚷”为名,取其“繁茂、旺盛的生命力”之意,艺术家旨在呈现一个阳光普照、充满原生力量的世界。李萧禾作品深受中国民间美术影响,笔下女性展现健康自在的生命状态。
Taking its title from “EXUBERANT” evoking lushness and vitality, the exhibition presents a sunlit world of primal energy. Li Xiaohe’s works, influenced by Chinese folk art, depict women in healthy, free life states.

毕业于中央美术学院壁画系的李萧禾,作品深受中国民间美术造型和配色的影响。我们从中能够很容易捕捉到这些民间痕迹如年画、送子图概括性的剪纸艺术反观到主题中,她笔下的女性,并主流叙事中被动、柔弱的审美客体,也非充满攻击性与痛苦内耗的“反抗符号”。她们身体健朗,体态丰盈,肌肤沐浴在饱满的光线之中,从事着劳作、嬉游与休憩等活动。这种形象,承袭了民间美术中对生命繁衍与劳动耕种赞美,是一种“能见到光”的健康姿态。她们的双足扎根于土地,笑容发自内心,展现了一种不被他人目光所定义的、自足的喜悦。这种健康性,是对女性身体本真状态的回归,超越了单一的“被观看”或“反叛”的叙事逻辑。

对女性身体的塑造时常会陷各种困境中:或是通过展示创伤来控诉,或是通过解构身体来反叛。李萧禾的创作提供了一条独特的路径。她并非无视女性身份的焦虑,而是选择以”来回应“解构”,以“完整”来疗愈“割裂”。在这里,她的“桃源”——自然与之间不存在危险与征服的关系,而是和谐共生画中人物所流露的雀跃与安宁,是源于一种深刻的安全感与对生命本身的信任。“现实中的她越不高兴,她便越希望画中人高兴起来。”这种创作动机,使她能够超越个人情感的宣泄,变为一种主动的生命赋形以及对理想社会关系的想象

李萧禾绘画作品中的“传统感”和“中国”,正体现在这种“桃源”结构的营造与民间美学的当代描绘中。她摒弃了悲情与嘶吼,转而从民间热闹的文化资源中汲取养分,用饱满的色彩、流畅的线条和充满寓意的构图,讲述了一个关于成长、劳作与和谐生存的故事。这不仅是形式的借鉴,更是精神内核的承接——一种东方式的、强调内在圆满的希望感。

“丘嚷”,是山丘间生命力的喧响,是阳光下达至饱满的生命状态。李萧禾以其独特的艺术语言告诉我们,女性的力量,其根基在于健康、自在与创造的生命本身。

李萧禾, 1991年出生于河南洛阳。2014毕业于中央美术学院壁画系第一工作室,获学士学位。2019毕业于中央美术学院壁画系,获硕士学位。现在工作生活于北京。

A graduate of the Mural Painting Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Li Xiaohe draws deeply from the forms and color palettes of Chinese folk art. Traces of traditional New Year paintings, fertility icons, and simplified paper-cutting styles surface effortlessly in her work. In terms of subject matter, the women she portrays are neither passive, delicate objects conforming to mainstream aesthetics, nor aggressive symbols defined by inner conflict. Instead, they are strong-bodied and full-figured, their skin glowing under abundant light as they labor, play, and rest. This imagery inherits folk art’s celebration of life and labor—a vision of health “illuminated by light.” With feet rooted in the earth and smiles arising from within, these women embody a self-sufficient joy, free from the gaze of others. Such vitality reflects a return to the authentic female body, transcending the binary logic of “being viewed” or “resisting.”

 

While depictions of the female body often fall into narratives of trauma or deconstruction, Li Xiaohe offers another path. She does not ignore the anxieties tied to female identity, but responds to “deconstruction” with “reconstruction,” and heals fragmentation with wholeness. In her “Peach Blossom Spring”—a vision where nature and humanity coexist in harmony rather than conflict—the figures radiate a sense of ease and exuberance, born from profound security and trust in life itself. “The less happy she feels in reality, the more she wishes her painted figures to be happy,” Li remarks. This impulse allows her to move beyond personal expression toward an active shaping of life and an imaginative ideal of social relations.

 

The “traditional” and “Chinese” sensibility in Li Xiaohe’s paintings lies in this construction of an idyllic structure and her contemporary reinterpretation of folk aesthetics. Moving beyond anguish and outcry, she draws from the vibrant resources of folk culture, using rich colors, fluid lines, and symbolic compositions to tell a story of growth, labor, and harmonious existence. It is not merely a formal reference, but a continuation of a spiritual core—an Eastern sense of hope rooted in inner fulfillment.

 

“Exuberant” is the vibrant chorus of life echoing from the hills, a state of being fully saturated with sunlight. Through her unique artistic language, Li Xiaohe reminds us that the power of women lies in a life that is healthy, free, and generative.


ABOUT ARTIST

Li Xiaohe, Born in Luoyang, Henan Province in 1991. In 2014, she received her Bachelor’s degree from the First Studio of the Mural Painting Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. In 2019, she received her Mater’s degree from the same department. She now lives and works in Beijing.
